Short biography of Peter Damerow
The historian of science Peter Damerow was an unusually versatile scientific personality
Peter Damerow (1939–2011) - mathematician, philosopher, educational researcher and historian of science - joined the Max Planck Society as an academic staff member in 1974, first at the MPI for Human Development and then at the MPI for the History of Science.
Owing to his research on the development of knowledge, particularly the history of mathematics and development of writing by, e.g., the Sumerians, as well as his dedication to introducing modern technologies in the humanities, the “Cuneiform Digital Library Initiative” now brings together cuneiform texts from all over the world, making them generally accessible.
