 The Max Planck Institute of Molecular Cell Biology and Genetics (MPI-CBG) and the adjacent Center for Systems Biology Dresden (CSBD) are basic research institutes that pursue a mission to advance multiscale biological discovery through innovative and cutting-edge mathematics, physics, and computation. The MPI-CBG invites applications for Postdoctoral Researchers (m/f/d) in Mathematics and Applications.

Specifically we are looking for mathematicians interested in developing the field of mathematics with a view towards open problems in the life sciences.

We are interested in candidates with knowledge in

  • Applied Algebra/Geometry / Topology
  • Computational Algebra / Geometry / Topology
  • Algebraic Statistics
  • Discrete Mathematics and Combinatorics
  • Data Science and Bioinformatics
  • Mathematical Biology
  • Differential Equations, Stochastics and Mathematical Modelling
  • Mathematical and Theoretical Physics

Successful candidates would closely collaborate with one or more of the mathematics research groups of the institute: Heather Harrington’s group on Algebraic Systems Biology, Türkü Özlüm Çelik’s group on Mathematical Structures and Applications, and Aida Maraj’s group on Algebra in Data Analysis. Your qualifications

  • A PhD degree in Mathematics or related fields is required.
  • Previous experience and a strong track record in the fields listed above will be considered positively.
