Geboren 1969. Studium der Chemie an der Universität Konstanz mit einem Stipendium der Studienstiftung des Deutschen Volkes 1990-1994, Diplom 1994. Dissertation an der Universität Bochum / Max-Planck-Institut für Kohlenforschung 1994-1996. Post-Doc am Scripps Research Institute in La Jolla, Kalifornien; DAAD/NATO-Stipendium 1997-1998. Habilitation an der Universität Münster 1998-2004; Liebig-Stipendium (1998-2000) und DFG-Stipendium (2000-2004). Professor (C3/W2) an der Universität Bonn 2004-2010. Ordentlicher Professor (W3) an der Universität Mainz (2010 - 2023). Ab 2019 Mitglied des Vorstandes der GDCh-Fachgruppe Nachhaltige Chemie. Seit 1. Dezember 2023 Direktor und wissenschaftliches Mitglied am Max-Planck-Institut für chemische Energiekonversion.
